Open Engineering Academy

Learn to build declarative, composable systems.

Open Engineering mark

The Open Engineering Academy teaches engineers how to design, build, and operate declarative, composable systems using open technologies and hands-on projects. It is the educational arm of the Open Engineering ecosystem.

The academy story: compose → construct → behave

Open Engineering separates three genuinely different phases of engineering, and the academy has one course per phase:

Phase Question Course
Compose What should exist? Crossplane
Construct How is it safely built? Sandcastle
Behave What does the resulting entity do? Pico

In short: Crossplane composes, Sandcastle constructs, Picos behave. Each course teaches one layer; together they form a coherent path from declared intent, through safely constructed artifacts, to long-lived reactive behaviour.

How the site is structured

The academy is a family of Quarto sites. This root site is the entry point and directory; each course under courses/ is published as its own self-contained Quarto website with its own navigation, glossary, labs, and assets. Shared templates, includes, and styling live under templates/ and shared/.
